The Challenges are back in town! I have filmed this time four Ferrari 458 Challenges in different colours and liveries in the streets of Maranello.
The ultimate Ferrari vs Lamborghini competition is here, using some of my best videos i took during the years to make a comparison between two of the greatest supercars brand in the world. In the video you can see some of the best, fastest and expensive italian horses and bulls racing in the streets and on the track (such as Imola, Misano and Monza) making some serious noise! Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini are two persons i really admire for what they did, they realised their dreams and totally changed the market of the sport car and this is a tribute for they! A video camera can do strange things to reality. While we’ve always heard that training a lens on a person can add 10 pounds to their figure, it’s also true that focusing on a moving car can subtract 20 mph. Watching a car scoot around a track on screen and seeing the same action in real life, or even worse, from the cockpit, are two entirely different things. At some point during the migration from the real world to digital representation, things just seem to slow down, which is exactly why this video of the Ferrari 458 Italia Challenge after the jump is so impressive. The beast looks down right fast on film, so we can only imagine the kind of tear in the space-time continuum it could develop here in the real world.
Ferrari has pulled something special with its newest track bully. While the car still breathes through the same 570-horsepower 4.5-liter V8 as its more civil sibling, the company shaved a considerable amount of weight and fitted it with the same globe-crushing brakes as the 599XX. The changes have been enough to give the 458 Italia Challenge the guts to lap the Fiorano circuit in a blistering 1:16.5. That’s a mere two-tenths of a second off of the lap time of the marginally more loco FXX.
That puddle on the floor? Yeah, that’s from our mouths watering. We’ll get someone on that.

The Nuclear Test Ban Treaty may have made the world a better place, but the test ban in place in Formula One has had some other rather interesting effects. Take Jaime Alguersuari, for example, who was racing in actual grands prix before getting a chance to actually test out the machinery. Or Michael Schumacher, who had to sharpen his skills in a GP2 car before coming out of retirement. Or in this case, Fernando Alonso, who had never even lapped Ferrari’s iconic private Fiorano test track… until now.
Ferrari took advantage of a loophole in the regulations that allows teams to run their cars during the season for “promotional purposes.” So in order to test the revisions that the Scuderia made to its F10 racer in advance of this past weekend’s European Grand Prix, and allow their two-time world champion to get some track time at Fiorano, Ferrari had to release this clip. Follow the jump to watch the video from inside the cockpit, and consider the team suitably promoted.
