The latest set of spy shots shows us a new diffuser. With wider wheel cases, it is certain that the F450 will have a wider track.

F450 will use the F430’s modified chassis and body. Code named F142, a 4.5-liter V8 engine that produces around 585 horsepower is mounted behind the driver. Power is transferred to rear wheels through a double-clutch gearbox used in the California.

Kinetic Energy Recovery System from Formula 1 pit garage could sneak into the F450, which is still unconfirmed. This system recovers kinetic energy from the decelerating wheels while braking.

The Ferrari California shares similarities with the F450, but is made for the customer who calls for a hooligan. The stiff suspension setup will make this a track monster, and should prove a hot performance Ferrari.

Further spy images of the forthcoming Ferrari F450 have emerged. The test mule was shot while testing in Sweden in conditions which are not ideal for a rear-wheel-driven Ferrari. Nevertheless, ice-cold circumstances are part of the development process if reliability under any kind of weather is to be claimed.

Boasting over 500hp the F450 is even rumoured to have a higher power output than the 520hp F430 Scuderia. Ferrari will use the same double-clutch gearbox from the California for the F450 to double-up with the envisaged 4.5-litre V8. How the global financial difficulty has affected the scarlet marque will be seen in the F450 through possible technologies like a road car version of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems).

The mule in these pictures may be disguised as an F430 but the differences are easy to spot; wider fenders, the air scoops and that centrally-mounted exhaust pipe give the guessing game away.

Ferrari has apparently codenamed the car F142 and it is expected to make its first public showing at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009. Deliveries would then commence just over a year from now.

We can see wider front and rear wheel cases, so it is now obvious that the Ferrari F450 will have a wider track.

Also this prototype has a small bulge on the bonnet and air intakes behind the rear window. Looks like the new engine needs more air.

Rumor is that F450 will debut this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show. F450 will use a modified chassis and body from the F430.

F450 will get a more aggressive look and engine, with some components in the bodywork and chassis borrowed from the F430. Power will come from a 4.5-liter V8 that produces over 500 hp. If the rumors are true then sales are expected to start end if this year or early 2010.

Some intriguing reports regarding the 2009 heir to the Ferrari F430 have appeared on a Ferrari forum, and this time they seem quite credible. The mid-engined car could be presented in October this year and released on the market come January 2010, according to Ferrari Chat.

So far, the new Ferrari would be called the F450 according to this forum, but other reports also have the moniker predicted as F470. Whatever the case, prudence is probably the best bet as we wait to see more news over the next few months.
